What is a RSPS?

RuneScape is one of the most famous massively multiplayer online role-playing games ever made. With over 200 million registered players, RuneScape became the largest free MMORPG, according to the Guinness Book of World Records. Besides that, RuneScape was also titled the most updated game.

Since a few years however, RuneScape has started to release updates that the players did not really like, just to fulfil that title of 'most updated game'. This has resulted into the fact that players started searching for an alternative to RuneScape. This is where RSPS became hot.

A RSPS is a RuneScape server that is not controlled by the managers of RuneScape, but by a private person. That's why RSPS are also called RuneScape private servers. A big benefit of RSPS is the fact that they're barely to even not limited. There's no more need to spend one year to reach a certain level, instead you can now reach that same level within a week in a RuneScape private server.

Where do I find and play a RSPS?

In order to find a good and safe RSPS, you shouldn't just try all of them. The best method to find a RuneScape server is to use a RSPS list like RuneLocus. It contains only safe RuneScape servers, and all the RuneScape private servers on the list are ordered by votes made by the players of the RS server.

If you'd like to build your own RSPS career by creating your own RSPS, RuneLocus is also one of the top places to start off. They provide all information and a major community to help you build your very own RuneScape private server.

The history of RSPS

The first RSPS was released more than 10 years ago (2004). The intention was not to create a multiplayer game that functions as alternative to RuneScape. Instead, the first RuneScape private server was made by a group of people who were interested in the RuneScape protocol. They wanted to find more information so they could create better bots for RuneScape. The first server was named WinterLove and was singleplayer, according to RuneLocus.

Shortly after the release of the singleplayer WinterLove, developers started to extend WinterLove in 2005. Result of this was a new RS private server called BlakeScape, the very first multiplayer RuneScape private server. The year later, 2006, RSPS became bigger then ever before. A new server was released every day, and the RuneScape private server scene became commercial. RuneLocus says that there have been over 100.000 servers registered since 2007.
